SFU is the first Canadian research university to gain U.S. accreditation. The university was also the first Canadian school to be accepted to the NCAA.
The decision to enter graduate studies is life-changing. It may lead you to move out of your home city, your country, and may even take you around the world.
Our suggested next steps:
Departmental and faculty graduate programs set their own deadlines for applications and for consideration for graduate fellowship awards. Some programs accept applications throughout the year.
In addition, some departments have separate entrance awards with very early application deadlines.
Please consult the website of your destination program for its application deadlines, as well as deadlines for entrance awards.
Find a Supervisor
A key part of your graduate experience is your relationship with your supervisor. Please see our advice on how to find a supervisor for your research.
Financial Assistance and Employment
Each graduate program sets its own policy on financial assistance, and applicants should contact programs directly for information. See:
Some graduate programs also have co-op work options.
International students' spouses or common-law partners may apply for Canadian work permits: See full guide.
